Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- David Ghantt worked on the film as a technical consultant, but because of outstanding court-ordered restitution for his part in the heist, he was not paid for the job.
- Jim Carrey joined the cast on February 1, 2013, and Owen Wilson followed that June, but Zach Galifianakis only came aboard on December 3, 2013, when Carrey dropped out.
- The film was scheduled for release on August 14, 2015, then August 7, then August 19, a date which Relativity rescheduled in July 2015 to October 9, 2015, pushing it back because the company was facing a financial crisis.
