Harmony Korine

Harmony Korine is an American filmmaker, artist, photographer, and author whose loose, transgressive style has explored taboo subjects through experimental techniques. Born in Bolinas, California, he first drew attention by writing the screenplay for Larry Clark's Kids (1995), then made his directorial debut with Gummo (1997), a fragmented portrait of life in a tornado-hit Ohio town that won top prizes at the Venice Film Festival. He followed it with Julien Donkey-Boy (1999), Mister Lonely, Spring Breakers (2012), and The Beach Bum (2019). His film Trash Humpers (2009) took the top award at the CPH:DOX documentary festival. In 2023 he founded the creative and technology company EDGLRD, which produced Aggro Dr1ft (2023), and he directed Baby Invasion (2024), shot from a first-person perspective. He has also published books and directed music videos.
