Plot summary
The Coopers are gathering for Christmas Eve. Sam and Charlotte have been married for forty years and are divorcing, and Charlotte talks Sam into keeping the news quiet so the family can have one last holiday together. Their son Hank is newly divorced from Angie and has lost his job as a holiday photographer. Their daughter Eleanor, waiting at an airport bar, meets Joe, a soldier whose flight is snowed in, and asks him to pose as her boyfriend at dinner. Charlotte's father Bucky is a regular at a diner with Ruby, a young waitress who is preparing to leave town. Charlotte's sister Emma is caught by Officer Percy Williams while taking a piece of jewelry for Charlotte. Hank's son Charlie goes to see his crush Lauren during her shift.
