Plot summary
Annie Butler writes user manuals while dreaming of manuscripts, and a bad breakup leaves her miserable. She sets down the romance she wants in a novel called My George, about a perfect imaginary man. Literary agent Della Hendershot offers to publish the book and present Annie as a debut author at a booksellers' expo, with George at her side. Annie confesses that George does not exist, so Della hires an actor to play her boyfriend, to the dismay of Annie's sister Kate and their mother Opal. Annie then meets George Munroe, the realtor selling Opal's house, and Henry, a high school friend who runs a plant nursery and has been hired to fix up the yard.
