Plot summary
Katherine Loewe, a successful novelist, has come to a writers retreat in the mountains of Morocco to finish a book she cannot seem to write, having just been asked to leave the farmhouse she shared for fourteen years with her sculptor partner. The other guests include Lily Kemp, a much younger writer whose first novel drew both critical praise and strong sales, and the finance manager she brought with her, Owen Brophy. Katherine wants quiet; Lily welcomes the attention of the other writers, among them Rafih Abdo, a fan of her work. Owen finds it hard to fit in and keeps stepping away for high-pressure calls about a real-estate deal in the United States. When the water in Katherine's room stops running, she sets out for drinking water, loses her way, and Owen helps her back.
