Plot summary
Daryn's father Xavier has convinced him that his one aim should be Harvard. One night, while sneaking into a rapper's concert, he meets Isabelle and is drawn to her at once. He courts her, and when he tells her he loves her, she says she has cancer and not much time remaining. Daryn decides to pack a lifetime into the year she has left. Isabelle believes he can make it as a rapper and works with him on a first demo recording. He takes her to meet his parents; Xavier questions her, then says it is his job to keep his son away from distractions, girls among them. Isabelle leaves with Phil, the drag queen who is her parental figure, and Daryn is left depressed.
