Plot summary
Set in nineteenth century British India, between 1825 and 1875, the story follows Sanga, who serves in the kingdom of Ramgarh and is loyal to Raja Laxman Singh alone. When the king conditionally allows the British to use the port for trade, Sanga finds that they are carrying gold and jewelry out of the country and bringing in ammunition, and he stops it. He goes to report this and finds Laxman Singh stabbed to death. Accused of the murder and of treason, Sanga escapes a death sentence and gathers revolutionaries who share a single aim: to end British rule in India. Their movement grows into several armies united by one cry, an Independent India, also called Kranti. Bharat raises an army of his own, with Sureeli, Sheetal and Kareem Khan.
