Plot summary
Two tribes in the Tashkent region of Afghanistan settle an old enmity each year in a game of buzkashi, a contest in which riders fight with whips over a goat carcass. During one competition against a neighboring tribe, Badshah Khan falls in love with Benazir. He lets her win and follows her home to propose. Benazir's bodyguard Humayun attacks him, and Benazir names her condition: Badshah must bring her the head of Habibullah, the man who killed her father. Badshah agrees and crosses the Hindu Kush to search for Habibullah in India. There he meets Salma and her son Raja, who take him in. Salma's husband, the corrupt cop Aziz, works for Habibullah's brother Pasha.
