Plot summary

Maharani Meenakshi, a princess, is saved from attackers while out hunting by Jwala Singh, a hunter-warrior who lives alone in the jungle with his falcon. He asks for her hand in marriage, which her father has previously refused. After a tiger kills a villager, Meenakshi believes Jwala is dead, and her father marries her into another royal family; she is pregnant, and Jwala does not know. Her brother Satpal Singh hears a prophecy that his eldest nephew will kill him. He moves in with his sister and, when she gives birth, throws the baby from a window. A falcon carries the child to Jwala, who is being nursed by an arrowsmith and his wife. They raise the boy as their own.
