Plot summary
Carley Allison is 17 and skates competitively in Toronto, training for a place on Canada's national team, singing, and living with her family and friends. At a party she meets John, a classmate from biology. Then she begins to feel sick, short of breath, and an inhaler prescribed for asthma does not help. Doctors run tests; after she collapses on a date with John she is taken to a hospital, where they find a rare cancerous tumor outside her trachea. She holds to her motto of always finding a reason to be happy, and her family is around her as she begins treatment.
