Plot summary
During the Civil War, Jesse James arrives in Lawrence, Kansas, with his brother Frank, Cole and Jim Younger and Kit Dalton. The town mistakes them for Quantrill's raiders and a Union officer steps in before they are lynched. The five then join Quantrill's outfit. Jesse falls for a woman named Kate Clarke, and because Missouri would prosecute the James brothers for serious crimes, they stay under Quantrill's protection.
