Plot summary

One body holds two identities: Jonathan, awake from seven in the morning to seven in the evening, and John, who has the night. Jonathan works as a draftsman for an architect and is shy and reserved. John clerks at a law firm and is the livelier, more outgoing of the two. They live in New York City, communicate through recorded video messages, and follow a strict set of rules that keeps their arrangement hidden from the people around them. Dr. Mina Nariman raised them since birth and implanted the device in their brain that divides the day between them; she counsels each man separately. When John secretly begins dating a woman named Elena, Jonathan hires a detective to watch his other half.
