Plot summary
Lester March is twenty-five and grew up an orphan. He earns his living repairing electronics, work he is good at even though he is clumsy and awkward. What he reads are detective novels, and he would like to be a detective. His closest friend, Pete Flint, already is one. The two watch a television program about Cecilia Albright, a wealthy single woman searching for a nephew who went missing long ago, and about a reward of a hundred thousand dollars. Flint lets March come along when he slips into the Albright mansion.
