Francine York
Biography
An American actress and model, Francine York began as a showgirl in San Francisco before shifting to film and television. Born in Aurora, Minnesota, she studied at Hamline University on a drama scholarship and, at 17, took second place in the Miss Minnesota contest. After performing at the Moulin Rouge nightclub in Hollywood, she trained with Jeff Corey and made her screen debut in Secret File Hollywood. Her breakthrough arrived after Jerry Lewis selected her for It's Only Money (1962), which led to five more Lewis films, among them The Nutty Professor and The Patsy. She appeared in Tickle Me (1965), Curse of the Swamp Creature (1968), Cannon for Cordoba (1970), and played CIA agent Sabrina Kincaid in The Doll Squad (1973). On television she was seen on It Takes a Thief, Slattery's People, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, Batman, and Bewitched. In The Family Man (2000) she portrayed the mother-in-law of Nicolas Cage. She died in 2017.

Big break
Jerry Lewis gave York her big break by casting her in It's Only Money as a tantalizing sexpot, a part that earned her a lot of publicity and led Lewis to hire her for five more of his films.
First role
York made her screen debut in Robert Clarke's Hollywood exploitation movie Secret File Hollywood. It was filmed in 1960, though it did not reach audiences until 1962.
A change of course
York performed three times nightly, every day of the week, for half a year at Frank Sennes' Moulin Rouge, a Hollywood nightclub on Sunset Blvd. She then started acting classes with Jeff Corey, having grown tired of sharing the stage with elephants, pigeons, and horses.
