Plot summary
Three guitarists from different generations gather at a Los Angeles soundstage to talk about the electric guitar. Page played in a skiffle band as a child, left guitar for art school, then returned as a session musician before joining the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. He visits Headley Grange, where the acoustics of the house produced the drum sound of "When the Levee Breaks". The Edge made a guitar with his brother Dik, formed U2 in his childhood, and visits Mount Temple Comprehensive School. He removes strings from chords and uses echo and delay to fill in notes that are not there. Jack White grew up in a rundown Detroit neighborhood, drawn to blues and roots music while hip hop and house filled the neighborhood, and played in a garage rock band while working as an upholsterer.
