Plot summary
Captain J. J. Collins has spent years in the U.S. Army, and a scandal involving her superior costs her the Pentagon posting she wanted. Her new assignment is a lone missile interceptor station in the Pacific, where she works the command center with Corporals Beaver Baker and Rahul Shah. The station belongs to America's defense against incoming nuclear weapons, and that defense is already under strain: a missile site at Fort Greely has been raided, and sixteen warheads are missing from Russian territory. Operatives led by Alexander Kessel, a former military intelligence soldier, board the platform and head for the command center. Only Collins, Shah and Baker stand between the operatives and the interceptor system.
