Kristine Miller
Biography
Kristine Miller was an American actress known for roles in film noir and Westerns. Born in Buenos Aires in 1925, she moved to Hollywood after a screen test at Warner Brothers fell through, and producer Hal Wallis brought her to Paramount. Her first screen appearance was an uncredited bit part in You Came Along (1945), and she went on to play Alexis Richardson in I Walk Alone (1948) after Lizabeth Scott took the part Wallis had planned for her. Her other films included Desert Fury (1947), Sorry, Wrong Number (1948), Too Late for Tears (1949), and the Western High Lonesome (1950), as well as Jungle Patrol (1948), the only film in which she received top billing. In the 1950s she worked steadily in television, starring as Margaret Jones in the Western series Stories of the Century, which won an Emmy Award in 1955, and she later retired from acting.

A role that slipped away
Miller said that Lizabeth Scott wanted the role, and Scott got whatever she wanted from Hal Wallis, so Miller got the second part instead.
A first
Jungle Patrol, which came out in 1948, is the only movie where Miller had 1st-place billing. Even though she liked Bowers' original title better, this film is her personal favorite.

Miller replaced Castle on Stories of the Century after Castle quit or was fired, which disappointed director William Witney, who left after a few episodes with her. With a new leading lady and Witney replaced, the show in 1955 became the first Western to win an Emmy.

Miller made her screen debut in an uncredited bit part as a showgirl in You Came Along (1945), billed under the name Jacqueleen Eskeson.
