Plot summary
A genetic infection has turned people into zombie-like, cannibalistic mutants who overrun Los Angeles. Renchard survives among them, listening for radio signals and looking for a cure, and he has planted timed bombs at points around the city. Brianna is stranded in the city while looking for Antioch, a community of survivors, and she reaches Renchard by webcam to ask his help. He refuses. Two men who say they come from Antioch arrive at his home and argue that Brianna's blood carries the cure.
