Plot summary
In New York City, John Mason works as a young attorney for Judge Doolittle. A chance at a partnership in the firm rests largely on his marrying the judge's daughter, Eunice. On a business trip John meets Jane, and the two fall in love and wed the day after they meet. John's mother disapproves of his choice. An important trial forces the couple to cancel their honeymoon, and John wins the case. During the Great Depression, Doolittle orders pay cuts for every employee.
