Plot summary
Returning to their Texas ranch after the Civil War, brothers Dan and Neil Hammond want very different futures. Neil is content to work the family ranch, but Dan wants to build an empire like Cord Hardin, a ruthless business tycoon. Lorna, Hardin's wife, is romantically interested in Dan, and Dan's ambition brings him into a series of conflicts with Hardin.
