John Hubbard
Biography
John Hubbard was an American actor who worked in film and television from the late 1930s until the mid 1970s. Born in East Chicago in 1914, he began at MGM, which billed him for a year as Anthony Allen in small features and short subjects. In 1939 Hal Roach signed him under his own name as one of five young performers with star potential, and gave him leads in The Housekeeper's Daughter (1939) and Turnabout (1940). He spent the war years as a freelance romantic lead at several studios, filling in for actors who had enlisted, and returned to independent studios in 1947. Later he became a busy supporting player on television, with recurring parts in The Mickey Rooney Show, My Little Margie, Don't Call Me Charlie! and Family Affair, and worked in radio on The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show. He retired in 1974.
