Plot summary
Honor Rose has spent her time at George H. W. Bush High School working toward one goal: admission to Harvard. Mr. Calvin, her guidance counselor, holds a recommendation letter that could help, and he tells her that four students are in the running. The others are Travis Biggins, a star athlete; Kennedy Park, a creative introvert; and Michael Dipnicky, an academically brilliant nerd. Honor, with help from friends Emma and Talia, decides to remove all three from contention. She joins the theater club and advocates for a production of Kennedy's play, gets Travis to join the cast, and becomes Michael's chemistry lab partner, asking him to study at her house.
