Plot summary
Katharine Packard was once a prolific film star and now lives out a reclusive, alcoholic retirement in a Hollywood Hills mansion with a small group of servants. One morning, drunk, she tumbles down the stairs and hurts her leg, and is told she must use a wheelchair for a time. Her household, among them her secretary Leslie and her cook Greta, brings in a young man, Vic Valance, to serve as her personal assistant and nurse. None of them knows that Vic is a serial killer. Katharine warms to him and the two draw close, and the other servants begin to question his intentions in the house.
