Minta Durfee
Biography
Minta Durfee was an American actress of the silent era who entered show business at 17 as a chorus girl in local companies and became Charlie Chaplin's first leading lady. She was possibly best known for a supporting role in Mickey (1918). A regular performer on television, she appeared on shows such as Noah's Ark (1956), and she took minor parts in features including Naughty Marietta (1935), Rose-Marie (1936), How Green Was My Valley (1941), It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964) and Savage Intruder (1970). In her later years she lectured on silent film and took part in retrospectives of her pictures. She died in 1975.
