Plot summary
Victoria Price and Ruby Bates, two young white women, say that nine black youths raped them in the segregated South. The story is drawn from the 1931 Scottsboro Boys case. The first trial of the nine has already finished in Scottsboro, Alabama, when Samuel Leibowitz, a Jewish lawyer from New York, is called past the Mason-Dixon line in 1933 to defend them.
