Plot summary
In 1983, Judah Lazarus, known as the Hanukiller, attacks across the seven days of Hanukkah in New York. He believes it is God's will to sacrifice his only son Obediah on the eighth day, and the police stop him before he can. Years later a new spree begins, aimed at non-Jews, at Jews the killer judges to have broken Judaic law, and at anyone he counts as an enemy of the faith. Among his targets are several delinquent Jewish teenagers getting ready for Hanukkah. A rabbi helps them work out why they are being hunted, and tells them that holding to their heritage and faith is the only way they stand a chance.

- Hanukkah is the first feature-length horror film centered on the holiday of Hanukkah. It also features the final on-screen performances of horror veterans Sid Haig and Dick Miller, both of whom died in 2019.
- Writer-director Eben McGarr had trouble securing funding for the film, largely because distributors and other filmmakers feared it could be seen as disrespectful to Jews and to Hanukkah, especially since McGarr is not Jewish himself.
- Dick Miller had already retired from acting when production on the film began, but he came out of retirement just to play a Rabbi for the first time in his career.
