Plot summary
Naomi, 25, comes from Australia to spend a summer as an intern in Brooklyn. Nick is an archivist cataloging the papers of his late father-in-law, and Alyssa, his wife, is also his business partner. Alyssa's sister Gwendolyn employs Sam as an assistant, and Buddy runs a recording studio; his mother was a college friend of Naomi's mother, and his wife, Jess, is Sam's sister. Naomi's ties reach both households. Through the summer, the dissatisfaction each family keeps quiet comes closer to the surface, and Nick and Buddy each weigh what Naomi might mean to them, something Alyssa and Jess register to some degree.
