Plot summary
Annwn, a small planet orbiting the blue planet Gaia, was home to eight tribes, the Garms, all serving their creator, the Goddess Danaan. After Danaan leaves, the tribes turn on one another and the war wrecks the atmosphere. Three remain: the Briga, who dominate the ground with hybrid tanks and cybernetic weapons; the Kumtak, near extinction and trading information technology to the Briga; and the Columba, who rule the sky from an airship. The Druids, who once spoke for Annwn's gods, have vanished. Wydd, a Kumtak, is captured by the Columba with a dog he calls a Gula and Nascien, the last Druid. He says he fled because his people are enslaved. When Briga forces attack the airship, he sets out with the Columba clone soldier Khara and the Briga officer Skellig toward the Druids' land.

- Mamoru Oshii began Garm Wars in the mid-1990s as G.R.M. The Record of Garm War, but the film, planned with a 6 billion yen budget, was put on hold for fifteen years due to technical limitations; he resumed it in 2012 using his "Hybrid Animation" technique that combines CGI and live-action filming.
- Garm Wars: The Last Druid was the first English-language film by Mamoru Oshii, who was previously known for Japanese-language animated works including Ghost in the Shell and Urusei Yatsura.
