Plot summary
The story is told in flashback, as a confession Marcus Jones makes to a Catholic priest. Marcus works for the Central Intelligence Agency, and his mentor Dietrich gives him a new assignment: collect intelligence that could lead to the prosecution of two American citizens, arms dealer Frank Smith and hedge fund manager John Redvale. Marcus becomes Smith's bodyguard and accompanies him to the Redvale building, where Smith expects to collect $100 million in cash. On the way their car is attacked, with CIA agents tracking from a helicopter above. Marcus drives Smith, who has been taken ill, to a hospital in Detroit.

Ferrara left during filming and was replaced by Giorgio Serafini; the reasons were never made public, and how much of his footage survived into the finished film is unknown.
