Plot summary
The mercenary crew led by Barney Ross pulls Doc, jailed for eight years, off a train bound for a maximum security prison. A job to intercept a bomb shipment meant for a Somali warlord puts Barney face to face with the seller: Conrad Stonebanks, the group's disgraced co-founder, presumed dead. Stonebanks slips away from the firefight, and CIA officer Max Drummer orders Barney to capture him for the International Criminal Court. Blaming himself for a teammate's grave injury, Barney disbands his crew and asks the retired recruiter Bonaparte to find younger mercenaries: the former Marine John Smilee, the bouncer Luna, the computer expert Thorn and the weapons specialist Mars.
