Plot summary
In London in 1843, Ebenezer Scrooge works as an asset stripper and resents anyone who keeps Christmas. His clerk, Bob Cratchit, and Cratchit's wife Mary struggle to raise their children, among them the disabled Tim. Marley, Scrooge's dead business partner, learns he will have no rest unless he helps Scrooge redeem himself. Marley visits Scrooge to warn him that three spirits will come to him on Christmas Eve.

- Rutger Hauer was originally cast as the Ghost of Christmas Future in this Dickens adaptation but became too ill to film his scenes, and Jason Flemyng replaced him. Hauer died on 19 July 2019.
- In January 2019 it was reported that Tom Hardy would also be starring in the three-part series, but the role he would play was never disclosed, and he did not appear in the final version.
