Biography
Joe Alwyn is an English actor born in 1991 in Royal Tunbridge Wells and raised in North London. While training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he was cast through his agent as the lead in Ang Lee's war drama Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016), his feature debut, and critics praised his naturalistic performance. Supporting roles followed in The Sense of an Ending (2017), The Favourite (2018), Boy Erased (2018) and Mary Queen of Scots (2018), and he won a Trophée Chopard at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Later films include Harriet (2019), The Last Letter from Your Lover (2021), The Souvenir Part II (2021), Catherine Called Birdy (2022), Kinds of Kindness (2024) and The Brutalist (2024). He also starred in the series Conversations with Friends and co-wrote songs on Folklore, which won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.
