Plot summary
Delos has spent $1.5 billion on safety upgrades and shuttered Westworld, then invites the newspaper reporter Chuck Browning and the television reporter Tracy Ballard to inspect the rebuilt resort. Before the junket, Browning arranges to meet a Delos employee who claims to have information about the corporation; the man is shot and dies after handing over an envelope. At the park, guests choose among Spaworld, Medievalworld, Romanworld and Futureworld, and the two reporters pick Futureworld, a simulated orbiting space station where robots box and serve as companions. Dr. Duffy guides them and demonstrates that the old failures have been corrected. A Russian general and a Japanese politician are among the other guests.

- Futureworld was the first major feature film to use 3D computer-generated imagery. Its animated hand was a digitized version of Edwin Catmull's left hand, and the animated face came from Fred Parke's 1974 short Faces & Body Parts.
- The production reused the "Logan apartment set" from Logan's Run, redressing it to stand in for the Futureworld bar.
- For its first television broadcast, the scene where Browning gives Dr. Schneider the finger was reshot so that he performs a bras d'honneur instead.
