Plot summary
A global war brings oil shortages and ecocide, and civilization collapses into barbarism. Max Rockatansky, a former policeman whose wife and son were killed by a biker gang, travels the wasteland with his dog, looking for food and petrol. Marauders on bikes, led by Wez, chase him, and he outmaneuvers them with his driving and a shotgun. He takes petrol from a wrecked pursuer's vehicle. He then tries to collect fuel from an apparently abandoned gyrocopter, and its pilot ambushes him; Max overpowers the man with the dog's help, then lets him live in exchange for guiding him to a working oil refinery. They reach it while a motorized gang attacks the place.
