Plot summary
After their earlier crimes are pardoned, Dominic Toretto, Brian O'Conner and the rest of the team are living quietly in the United States. Dom is helping Letty Ortiz recover her memory, and Brian is adjusting to fatherhood. Deckard Shaw wants payback for his comatose brother Owen. Deckard breaks into a DSS office in Los Angeles, fights Luke Hobbs and sets off a bomb that leaves Hobbs badly hurt, and a letter bomb destroys the Toretto house. Dom flies to Tokyo for Han Lue's body and, at the funeral, catches sight of Deckard, who escapes when a covert team led by Mr. Nobody appears. Mr. Nobody offers a trade: he will help stop Deckard if Dom recovers God's Eye, a program that can track anyone, and saves its creator, Ramsey, from the terrorist Mose Jakande.

- Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Conner, died in a single-vehicle crash on November 30, 2013; the next day Universal said production would continue after a delay, and the film's ending was rewritten. On December 4, Universal put production on hold indefinitely.
- For the airdrop sequence, cars were dropped from a Lockheed C-130 Hercules over the Arizona desert: two planes flying at 12,000 feet each released two cars, and GPS-enabled BRS parachutes opened at about 5,000 feet.
- Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again", which plays over the film's ending as a tribute to Paul Walker, was the best-selling song of 2015 worldwide, with 20.9 million combined sales and streams according to IFPI.
- Dwayne Johnson said he could not take part if Universal rushed a seventh film into production that summer because of scheduling conflicts with filming Hercules (2014); when shooting was set for September, he confirmed his return.
- Furious 7 used 340 cars and destroyed more than 230 of them, among them a W Motors Lykan HyperSport valued at $3.4 million, though the car wrecked on screen was a cheaper replica, not one of the seven real ones.
- At the time of its release, Furious 7 was the fastest film ever to reach $1 billion at the box office, hitting the mark in 17 days.
