Plot summary
Water is scarce, and the survivors of World War III scrounge for what remains. Two rival schools of martial arts, North Star and Southern Cross, had tried to restore order until Shin, a Southern Cross adept, turned on his masters and killed North Star master Ryuken. Ryuken's son Kenshiro is the school's only heir. He survives Shin's attack and the seven scars cut into his chest. Julia, the woman both men love, is held in Shin's tower, and Shin rules the land as dictator through a militia known as the Crossmen. Kenshiro walks the wasteland. He spends a night at a homestead, then reaches Paradise Valley, where he meets the orphan siblings Bat and Lynn and restores Lynn's sight by striking a pressure point. The Crossmen raid the town.
