Finding Altamira (2016) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the Altamira caves of Cantabria, northern Spain, Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola and his young daughter María come upon prehistoric paintings on the rock. The hunter Modesto Cubillas has a part in the find. Certain the work is ancient, Marcelino brings it before the scientific and religious authorities of the day, hoping they will study it. The experts refuse to accept that early people could have made such pictures. They call the cave a fraud and say Marcelino painted the images himself in an effort to get rich. Accusations of falsehood spread against him, and he sets out to show that the paintings are real.
