Plot summary
South Africa's apartheid system is coming apart in the early 1990s, and four photographers work the townships together, becoming known as the Bang-Bang Club. Greg Marinovich, Kevin Carter, Ken Oosterbroek and João Silva photograph the anti-apartheid protests and the police brutality that meets them, along with the clashes pitting government-backed forces, among them Inkatha Zulu warriors, against supporters of Nelson Mandela's African National Congress. They push toward the fighting to get their pictures, working from the years after Mandela leaves prison through the negotiations that lead to the 1994 general election. Getting close to the gunfire is dangerous, potentially fatally so.
