Plot summary
Near ground zero, the Pollard family lives in the path of a nuclear bomb that is due to fall. Mr. Pollard, Mrs. Pollard and Pam Pollard calmly discuss the death they expect, and Mrs. Pollard describes a dream of hers in which she washes in the Tears of Neglected Children. The script began as a set of consciously absurd acts, each one mailed to a different adult video company that stages fetish scenes ordered by customers; the performers played the parts, and the four finished segments were joined into one film whose story unfolds through statements and images that do not follow one another logically.

- Vernon Chatman wrote a deliberately absurd screenplay about thermo-nuclear doomsday, split it into four acts and sent each act to a different independent adult video company that stages fetish scenarios submitted by amateurs for a fee, then assembled the segments with none of the actors, technicians or directors supposedly aware of the satire.
