Plot summary

Ellie Warren is an attorney who has moved from San Francisco to a house on the coast with her husband Marcus, still mending after a driver hit his bicycle and kept going. Their daughter Brittany has left for college. At her firm, Ellie meets David Hammond, the new tech consultant and a college friend she has not seen in twenty years, and she knows nothing of the anger management therapy he attended after an incident involving a woman named Deborah. The two have drinks, and the encounter becomes sexual in the club's bathroom even though Ellie resists. David then telephones and texts her, watches her house from a distance, breaks in and gets into her home security system, and dates her friend Courtney. Ellie tells neither Marcus nor the police.
