Plot summary
After the heist in Brazil, Dominic Toretto shares a home with Elena Neves, while Brian O'Conner and Mia live with their son Jack. Gisele Yashar and Han Lue are a couple, and Roman Pearce and Tej Parker are living in luxury. DSS agents Luke Hobbs and Riley Hicks are looking into a Russian military convoy destroyed by mercenaries under Owen Shaw, a former British SAS major. Shaw is gathering parts for Nightshade, an electromagnetic pulse weapon he means to sell to the highest bidder. Hobbs wants Dominic and Brian and their crew on the job in exchange for pardons, and he shows Dominic a photograph of Letty Ortiz, the girlfriend he believed was dead, standing among Shaw's people.

- Fast & Furious 6 was only the third production ever allowed to film in Piccadilly Circus; when Justin Lin was refused permission to shoot an exploding oil tanker there, a replica of the landmark was built at Shepperton Studios, and crews had only two minutes an hour to shut the area down.
- For Dom's car to burst through the cargo plane's nose, a Dodge Charger was mounted on a pneumatic cannon inside a ramp towed by a 4×4 truck, hidden behind a replica of the plane's nose and clad in flammable material that was ignited as the cannon fired it.
- A scene with Luke Evans's villain commandeering a tank was meant to use CGI, but the tank really ran over about 250 cars on a three-mile stretch of highway in Tenerife whose holiday resorts had to be digitally removed to create a desolate look.
- Justin Lin storyboarded, previsualized and edited a twelve-minute finale for Fast & Furious 6 before filming on Fast Five had even finished, because he was unsure whether a sequel would happen or whether he would direct it.
- By March 2013, Justin Lin was trying to finish roughly 18 months' worth of post-production in a 12-week period, helped by five film editors plus teams handling visual effects, color timing and sound.
- Paul Walker tore his ACL during a stunt on October 11, 2012, forcing the production to shoot around his scenes until he recovered.
- Producers refused to let Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano perform a London Underground fight stunt in which their characters tumble over a stair rail and down a stairwell, fearing an injury would derail filming, so stunt women did it instead.
