Plot summary

At a research lab, Dr. Andi Palmer works on a robotics project named F.R.E.D.I. She removes the machine from the facility and takes it with her. Grant, her boss, notices and orders his security team to bring her back. As she drives away, the robot causes trouble with her car and the vehicle fails, so she leaves F.R.E.D.I. behind in the woods. In the woods, a group of teenagers comes upon the robot, including fifteen-year-old James Nash and Danny. James and F.R.E.D.I. begin to talk with each other, and a bond forms: the robot learns about the life of a teenager, and James picks up something about values.
