Plot summary
Alex Nichols, Tuck Simms and Reginald Barrett live in Mulberry Woods, a small Nevada neighborhood marked for a highway construction project. On their last night together, the three phones show strange patterns, and Munch works out that the markings point to coordinates in the nearby desert. The three bike out with their cameras running and find a dusty, rusted object beneath an electrical tower. Inside a barn, the object repairs itself with various objects it finds there, revealing a cybernetic alien that answers yes or no questions and says it crashed on Earth, injured. A further map brings them to a pawn shop, where the object repairs itself more; with its eyes damaged, it sees through the camera on Alex's phone. The boys name it Echo.
