Plot summary
In a tomato garden in Van Nuys, California, Theo is a snail who calls himself Turbo and dreams of racing, idolizing five-time Indianapolis 500 champion Guy Gagné. The other snails find his obsession strange, and his older brother Chet finds it humiliating. One night he slips onto a freeway and wishes to be fast; a drag-racing car's supercharger pulls him in, and nitrous oxide fuses with his body. He wakes the next morning able to move at super speed. He accidentally drives a boy's tricycle into the garden, and he and Chet are dismissed from their work. A crow then snatches Chet, and Theo chases it to Starlight Plaza, where taco truck driver Tito Lopez captures both snails and brings them to a snail race.

- DreamWorks Animation ran a competition in 2009 for staff to pitch film ideas on a single page, and Soren won it with "The Fast and the Furious with snails". Nothing happened for several years until he pushed the project again after moving into a home with a snail-infested backyard.
- The animation was rendered on HP equipment, and the studio needed a total of 75 million render hours to produce the pictures you see on screen.
