Plot summary
Ernie is Cupid's brother, and he has spent thousands of years shooting arrows into people's hearts to bring them together, exactly the work his famous brother does. The same love connections over and over have left him bored, so he leaves for earth and takes the shape of a human child, with Cerbie, his dog and closest friend, going with him. Their arrival puts them in the path of Detective Myers, who cannot trace any past for the boy; the child's sudden appearance puzzles him, and he opens an investigation. Ernie has no home on record and no parents, so the detective takes him and Cerbie to the city's orphanage.
