Plot summary
Nick Vanderpark and Tim Dingman are neighbors and close friends who work together at 3M. Nick keeps dreaming up get-rich-quick ideas, and one of them pays off: Vapoorize, a spray that makes dog waste disintegrate on contact. Tim dismissed the idea and passed up the chance to invest, and now he watches Nick's money grow. Nick has no inkling of how Tim feels, and his generosity only makes the envy worse. Natalie, Nick's wife, is running for the state senate and keeps having to answer questions about her husband's product. Debbie, Tim's wife, and their children Lula and Michael go away for a while, and Tim loses his job at 3M. J-Man Goddard, a drifter, listens to Tim's troubles and offers advice.
