Plot summary
Maud is a widowed grandmother in her eighties, and her memory is failing. She keeps sticky notes around her to hold the reminders she can no longer carry in her head. When her best friend Elizabeth does not turn up as they had planned, Maud becomes certain that something sinister has happened to her. The people around her will not take her alarm seriously, so she sets out to find the answers by herself. As she searches, her mind keeps returning to another disappearance from seventy years earlier: her elder sister Sukey, who went missing when they were young.
