Plot summary

Gary Brannon and his father Sam live on a homestead near a small Colorado town whose gold has been worked out. The only gold left lies on land belonging to the Ute, and Frank Walker wants that territory opened for mining. He rounds up the local men and makes plans to raid the Ute land, hoping to set the Utes and the settlers against each other. Sam, an even-tempered settler, argues against the raid. Gary is torn between the two men. A Ute killed his mother, and he carries that grudge, but he also believes in his father's morality.
