Plot summary
Elisabeth Blaine works in a New Orleans morgue, and her friend and co-worker Luke brings in the body of Dracula. Examining it, she pricks her finger on a fang, and the two argue over what the corpse is and what they should do with it. Elisabeth calls her husband, Professor Lowell, who suffers from a degenerative illness. A wealthy investor offers thirty million dollars for the body, and Father Uffizi reaches the morgue. Lowell tells Elisabeth and Luke to bring the corpse to his family home for the experiment, and the pair ask fellow students Kenny and Tanya to help.

- Roy Scheider shot all of his scenes for both Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula III: Legacy in a single day; production on the two sequels ran concurrently in Romania in the fall.
- Dimension Films approached Patrick Lussier and Joel Soisson for a sequel even though Dracula 2000 was a box office bomb, and the pair reused their original Dracula 2000 pitch, Dracula captured and studied, for Dracula II: Ascension. Father Uffizi had also been dropped from the first film in later drafts.
