Plot summary
Colonel Dodge arrives on the first train and opens the railroad line that connects Dodge City, Kansas, to the rest of the world. Years later the town is a longhorn cattle center where settlers, thieves and gunmen live side by side. Jeff Surrett and his gang kill, steal and cheat, and no sheriff who takes office lasts long. Wade Hatton, who helped bring the railroad to Dodge City, is leading settlers west together with Rusty and Tex, his old companions. Abbie Irving and her brother Lee travel with them.
